My landscape design practice is a collaboration with clients, architects, and specialty consultants to shape outdoor spaces that belong to their site, respond to the architecture, and support the lives lived within them. In partnership with Sarah Peterson of Landspaces, I bring more than a decade of experience to residential and commercial projects rooted in close observation of climate, materials, use, and the particular conditions of each place. I am drawn to the relationship between structure and softness: the way circulation, planting, light, texture, and time can make a place feel both composed and alive. My work balances practical demands with sensitivity to natural systems, creating environments that are grounded, enduring, and livable.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

My art begins without a plan; I like not knowing where things are going. That uncertainty is why I am drawn to abstract painting: mixed media work made with acrylic, pastel, graphite, and textiles on large canvases tacked to the wall. I build and disrupt the surface through painting, scraping, drawing, staining, and layering, allowing forms to emerge, dissolve, and return. Accidents and revisions remain visible. Some paintings are cut into strips and rewoven, bringing the physical logic of handmade textiles into the work. Joan Mitchell’s color, Cy Twombly’s marks, and the enigmatic textile forms of Magdalena Abakanowicz are part of my lineage. I make these works to transform difficulty and loss, not by erasing what has been broken, but by working through it. The work holds presence and absence, memory and material, in the same field. Each painting becomes an act of mending, a place where fracture can be carried forward into a new form.
