The home, built in the early 1920s in a historic Hollywood neighborhood, had a large, underused back yard with approximately 3,000 square feet of turf grass and two wonderful old Ash trees.
The design concept included replacing the lawn with a series of modern outdoor rooms for the clients to entertain, and relax with friends and family.
The spaces flow seamlessly, connected with flagstone stepping stones generously planted with ground-hugging and creeping plants.
Two flagstone patios serve as outdoor living areas – one featuring a cast concrete fire bowl, and the other, a water fountain. Both with plenty of comfortable seating.
High on the homeowner’s wish list for the renovation was the addition of a spa. A custom deck was designed to provide easy access to the new spa, and plenty of deck space for lounge chairs.
A BBQ station and retractable roman shade sails were added to an existing pergola, making it perfect for al fresco dining with friends.
